Philips LCD TV Power Defect

Sunday, December 13th, 2009 | by Leo Raponi against Philips with No Comments »

Unit will not power on, the green LCD comes on, goes off and blinks red 6 times. After SEVERAL attempts at unplugging and replugging, the unit will go on and work fine. The unit is out of warranty, although only 3 years old. Repeated attempts to contact Philips have been unsuccessful. I am always told it is out of warranty and to call an authorized repair shop in my area (which there are none, according to Philips). I have contacted a few service people who have given me a range of $500 – 1,000 to “repair” the tv, all of which said it could happen again. Philips is well aware of this defect and will not do anything about it. They have, in the past, recalled a similar model tv for the same thing. I think it is ridiculous to assume that a product that you pay nearly $3,000 for would only last 3 years. They need to admit the defect and do right by the consumer. In addition, I cannot find an address to file a complaint with the company. Their website offers no such address and searches have been futile.
